A short demo of the Lenovo ThinkPad X1 Carbon's adaptive keyboard row, which changes its keys based on the user's activity.
Why Hacker News points people here: HN uses it as evidence that Apple's Touch Bar idea was not new, and that Lenovo had already tried and dropped it.

“Thankfully it was only used on the Gen 2 of the X1 Carbon.”
Shows the X1 Carbon's adaptive function row.
Than, to your horror, here is how it looks (1). Thankfully it was only used on the Gen 2 of the X1 Carbon. The thing is, the concept of the touchbar (especially as technically implemented by Apple with a matte texture) is actually great. The great mistake was having it replace the Fn-row. If it was placed above the Fn-row, the touchbar would have been great. (1) this video
“they already went back on it because it wasnt apple quality.”
it already is a copy link this video they already went back on it because it wasnt apple quality. apple always waits until its refined, but you cant give them credit for creating the idea.
