Why Hacker News points people here: HN uses it purely as a joke reference when something is being forced or a pun on 'fetch' fits.
I dunno. The constant barrage of: "BlockChains, but for Cancer!" just seems ... derivative now. Like the 'Uber, but for dogs' was this time last year. Everyone knows these hacker-coins are a scam, the last one with them looses their shirt. Yeah, the ideas are kinda cool, but, nah man. But the entire premise of the scene this video is that the act of telling someone to "stop trying to make fetch happen" is toxic and mean-spirited, and if someone actually does want to make "fetch" happen, they should be encouraged to do so. And if your "fetch" is the normalization of Mean Girls as a valid lede for didactic technical discourse, then you go Glen Coco.
